    Home Net work on a win7 32 & 64 bit pc's

I have got a desktop pc running on win7 32 bit and I just bought myself a laptop running on win7 64 bit (both are win7 Home Premium).

I have a wireless router (a BT HOME HUB 2, which is hard wired to the desktop pc) I want to be able to connect my laptop to the home desktop pc via a wireless connection and look at files/folders etc and swap things between the two pc’s over the wireless network. I assume this is called networking two pc's (sorry for my ignorance)

Can I do this and is it easy to set up.

    Thanks for any help guys

    Hi

Have a look at the following SF Tutorials:

How to Create a Homegroup in Windows 7

How to Join or Add a Computer to a Windows 7 Homegroup

Homegroup - Change File and Folder Sharing Settings

These should get you started for now. :)
Keep us posted on your progress and if you have any issues

For this problem most likely you need to adjust the permissions.

Thanks chev for helping out +1.

    Ballie

Try what chev has posted in relation to permissions.

If you are still not able to share the folder, try right-clicking the music folder and under the homegroup flyout menu, enable access (read or read/write) as applicable.
Have a look at the attached if you need clarification on the right-click context.

Have a good read through on the Homegroup - Change File and Folder Sharing Settings as this details the various methods on how you can enable shares for your homegroup.

Hope things work out and regards

Thanks again, I now got my laptop accessing all my HOME pc files and folders but I still cant get my home pc to open files on my lap top could it be because my laptop is 64 bit and my home pc is 32 bit ?

Anyway thats not the end of the world becase this week I am fitting a new 1 tb hard drive to my home pc and when I install win7 I am going to install the 64 bit version anyway. Once done I will let you know if the home then accesses the laptops files.

Sharing from a 64 bit system to a 32 bit system should not be a problem, I do the same myself. I can't imagine what the problem might be but try again after you install the 64 bit Windows 7.
