Internet disconnects when laptop lid is closed
Hello!
I've looked through all the Windows options and used Google several times, but I can't find a solution to this problem.
I bought a new Sony Vaio VPCF11M1E, all drivers are up-to-date and the options are correct. I have the lid close action on "do nothing" and the box in the device manager -> wireless lan driver unchecked (so it's NOT allowed to turn off the device to save power).
Still, whenever I close the lid on my laptop, the wireless internet connection disconnects. The actual wireless lan connections are still there when I open the lid, my laptop is just not connected to the internet. Also, this seems to happen just whenever my laptop feels like it. Sometimes the internet will be disconnected after 10 minutes, sometimes after 5 hours. I also left an application running over night that constantly uses the network connection (to see if it disconnects while idling), but when I woke up in the morning, the wlan was disconnected as usual.
It's not my router, it doesn't turn off the internet after X idle time and the network works fine when I leave my laptop open. The problem I have with leaving my laptop open all the time is my cat... Cat hair is a killer for poor computers.
I had an MSI laptop before, I didn't have this problem. My boyfriend also has a Medion that doesn't have this problem. The 4th laptop in the house, an Acer Aspire 7740G has the same problem, however.
Both laptops have Windows 7 Professional 64bit installed, as did the MSI laptop before (where everything worked fine).
If you need any more information, please let me know. Please also note that this problem occurs on every internet connection - I have been in 5 different networks so far, always the same problem. Also, I had the same problem with a LAN cable (so lan connection) as well.
Thanks for your time!
