    I have a D-Link 615 Ver R2 with DD-WRT flashed on it. It's gone from a £60 router to a £400 router with DD-WRT. But, the best is Linksys...
you can buy these set up already on fleebay

sorry to hijack the thread, is the d-link 615 good and secure (security) enough on its own to play a role in a normal browsing and downloading audio files life? or would you recommend DD-WRT?

the router will act as a wireless connection to 1 laptop and wired up to 1 stand alone pc and 1 other device. reviews suggest the 615 is weak, is the Belkin N still going strong or has it been crushed?

I have been using a Netgear DG834G v3 modem for the last so many years and absolutely happy with its performance. So my vote naturally goes to Netgear.

Somewhere on the net, I have also read that Netgear modems hold on the connection well even in adverse line conditions with low noise margin where other modems give up. So the author of the article had recommended that those living in the fringe service area for their DSL service should try Netgear to get a satisfactory connection that holds most of the time.

I have also practically experienced it. A month ago, my service provider transferred my line to the recently commissioned new exchange nearby. They goofed up somewhere and my downstream noise margin went as low as 2db and showing wide variations in bouts. Still I experienced disconnections in bouts not exeeding 2 hours out of 24 hours. ( Only today they rectified the situation and now the downstream noise margin is 31db and of course absolutely stable)

I monitor my line continuously with RouterStats. See it here .

ive had nothing but bad experiences with netgear over the years... my gf has a belkin and it works great.

i just got a netgear (cable company provides it) at my apartment and i have to reset it weekly... i presume it was new when they installed it.

im looking at getting my own here soon. i was going to go belkin but am open to suggestions.

Belkin has my nod as they have far and away the best customer support. Sometimes smaller is better.

So far as wireless range and speed I'm pretty happy with this from my D-link DIR-655 connection through my D-link DAP-1522.

This is the connection in my garage though my D-link 1522 AP using the 2.4GHz band.

Using the N only settings makes things much faster for anyone who hasn't tried that yet.

I could do better with the 5GHz band using the DWA-160 dual band USB adaptor.

It would be nice to see the promised 5GHz 450Mbps performance from someone,...anyone.

+1 another review will show a different winner. They should have done the test with Dlinks best router which is in fact the DIR-655.
