ahhh I miss my linksys wrt54g v4 :P I bricked her upgrading firmware :P but anyways look around in the advanced tabs and maybe setup see if you see anything regarding the mac.

The isp uses dhcp to the modems. The modem acts as a bridge to the internet. Al a modem does is translate the signal from your source, dial-up, dsl, t1, cable, etc., From there it passes the signal to your pc or outer. I can plug my cable modem straight into my PC and it works fine. I only use a router for the hardware firewall. So it is certainly 100% true you do not need a router. A Guy
