Problems with Roaming Profiles with 2008 R2 Domain

I have three computers that I regularly use at home, so I have configured one of them with Server 2008 R2 and I am running Win7 Ultimate on the Desktop and Laptop.

I have configured the server to act as an Active Directory Domain Control, and I am using Roaming profiles, but I have had serious problems getting anything to work. I have configured my profile such that:
    Profile Path: \\Lust\Users\Carl
Home Folder: Connect O: To: \\Lust\Users\Carl

I have also created a GPO for Domain Admins (Carl is a member of the Group Domain Admins) and set up folder redirection such that:
Advanced - Specify locations for various user groups
    Group SIN\Domain Admins
    Path \\Lust\Users\%USERNAME%\Desktop ...etc

\\Lust\Users is a shared folder and I have configured sharing and security access to give full control to: SYSTEM, carl@sin.x, Sin\Domain Admins, Lust\Administrators

However I am having huge problems installing software etc. Trying to install Office on the laptop results in an error (Access Denied when trying to install fonts), and other programs get the error Failed to expand shell constant folder "userdocs".

Furthermore, I had previous configured the profile to have home folders located on a VHD F:\Users\Carl, however despite the fact that I have replaced this, I still get an error message: F:\Users\Carl refers to a location that is unavailable every time I open an explorer window on either the laptop or the server.

Any ideas on what I have configured wrong?

I personally have never setup roaming profiles with 2008r2 but you might want to use this forum thread as a checklist reference to help you set this up.

How to setup roaming profiles in server 2008?

Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes... I'm sure I at least will learn something from this. :)

    Hello,

Most of the time while Office applications if User doc pointing to UNC path used to have problem. Its better to change the User shell location to Default path then install Office and revert it back. Check this article for manually changing the User Shell path You receive an "Error 1606" error message when you try to install or remove a Microsoft program

    Hope this helps,
    Captain
