At home with wireless.
![]()
I just did it again on my laptop at home and we have been put through a lot with Comcast over billing my last post was a desktop at school running XP
https://www.speedtest.net/result/3337819345.png. Taken on my android phone on a 73m download line, anyone know what's limiting the speed?? The router is capable of 130m over wireless, signal strength is full, I'd the phone limited in some way???
I would suspect it is the phone. It may use an older protocol like 802.11b, which is slower than 802.11n. The phone provider may not have a good network up too.
Aye, am sure its the phone, its a HTC desire HD, was wondering of there was a setting I am missing somewhere cause the speed on network mobile internet is the same as my home WIFI, its not exactly slow at loading at these speeds but definitely not rapid...
That phone has wireless N.
So something else is the matter.

Keep in mind though, the performance of your gadget does effect the speed of your internet. If the phones processor isnt fast enough to handle all that data coming in, it could be slower. Most small devices like cell phones can not pull in very fast high speeds of data. I have a galaxy s2, and when I use wifi on it I get about 25Mb/s or 30Mb/s down. But when I use a laptop with wireless, I get 35Mb/s or 40Mb/s down. Directly wired I get 50Mb/s or 60Mb/s.
Also, phones and laptops slow down the wifi chip so it doesn't drain the battery. There are multiple reasons as to why wifi can be slower on portable devices.
