lol.. I guess DSL is the "dialup" of the new century. My ping time is not too bad though, for what it's worth.
despite BT having unlimited broadband, it was capped at 100gb per month and your connection would be slower the following month.
with BT INFINITY(fiber optics).unlimited, there is no cap
although they do still throttle p2p traffic at peak times of the day, overnight is the best time to use p2p.
though with superfast broadband then off peak times usually see a download complete very fast
I'll try and find the graph I saw about the drop in usafe since torrent sites were banned. I know VM are on the ball with their FUP and are fast in dropping speeds. Sky & BT has an FUP but I have not seen it being used, in fact someone I know used 1TB in a week with Sky and nothing happened to his speed et al and he never even had an email telling him about his usage. As I've said I used to D/L torrents in the morning and never had any problems and they were always fast, In fact I just D/L a file and was getting 6.81MB/s.

The only torrent site that was blocked was the pirate bay, and the pirate party came out before that was even banned. There are still plenty of other torrent sites, that are just as good as if not better that the pirate bay that people can still use. I find it hard to believe that the blocking of the pirate bay has had that much of an impact in the amount of illegal downloading.
As for bandwidth throttling, well on their 100 Mb package VM throttle you once you have downloaded 20 GB in a 2 hour period. They throttle your bandwidth to 50 Mb, for a 4 or 5 hour period before restoring your bandwidth. I am unsure about the other providers but I do believe that they do throttle your bandwidth.
Speed over 3G coverage ... Better than my broadband!!
