I just got the fiber optic installed today, for phone and internet. I'm on the "cheap" plan but it's still better than what I was getting prior.

Here's what I get on Virgin Media's Starter Package with the Speed Doubled for an extra £5/month, unfortunately it on;y doubled the download speed, not the upload speed but that speed is about what I was getting as a download speed on ADSL:

And here is what I get on Vodaphone 4G, Speedtest.net by Ookla - My Results

Although that's not the fastest that I've downloaded or uploaded at, it's about average for what I get on full signal strength around Glasgow.

I have no idea. It would be nice to be upgraded to 120Mb/s Download and 6Mb/s Upload, however I suspect there will be some Clause that says if you pay to double your speed you don't get any "free" upgrades at a later date :/

ISP's tend to to that to us, just when we think we're about to get a better deal we contact them to double check and they let us down saying your contract says that you're paying for a fixed speed and can't be upgraded for free, although they're quite happy to upgrade you if you want to pay for it.

We found this out with our previous ISP who wanted us to pay for the ADSL2+ equipment to be installed in the exchange, which we refused then BT forced them to upgrade their equipment in mid November, but by then we'd gotten Virgin Cable and even when they "upgraded" us our speed actually went DOWN. We decided it wasn't worth phoning them to say it didn't work properly, as the call centre is in India and they just have a series of instructions that they want you to do (including trying a different router on your line and trying YOUR router on SOMEONE ELSE'S line).

EDIT: Having just checked the Virgin Media account it seems we'll be upgraded from 60Mb to "up to 100Mb", whether that will increase the upload speed I guess time will tell.
