Go to control panel/Internet Options. Go to the Connections tab and click on LAN settings and make sure there is nothing checked in the proxy Server area.

Try running this batch file which will reset winsock, reset the TCP/IP stack and release renew your IP.

Download Renew IP + Reset Winsock Batch File

If that doesn't work please post a screen shot of your ipconfig /all.

I believe this microsoft support page relates to your problem, go down the list and try the fixes listed in order.

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

Try uninstalling all AntiVirus suites and/or Firewalls you might have installed.

then,, try turning off the Win7 PC, powering off the router , wait 5 min, power on the router and wait 5 min, power on the PC.

While You are pulling an IP address. Can you try setting a static one within range of what you DHCP is setup on your Router?

Next,, if you can, from another PC, download the latest NIC drivers and uninstall/reinstall them.

If AV suite or Firewall is blocking something.... Uninstalling it will help determine that.
ZoneAlarm and Norton had a horrible issue with killing network some years ago, and they still can.

Make sure you reboot after each uninstall and Reinstall

Also,, after the Update was completed, it may be that Drivers updated from Windows Update could have broken those.
