looking for a network traffic monitoring tool

I am looking for a network traffic monitoring tool that can monitor all the network users, to see who are largely using network(send and receive data).
I did some research, but most software I found can only monitor the local computer.

Does anybody know is there any good network traffic monitoring tool for small business or home network.

Thanks!

I'm watching this thread........

I would love to have a 'gadget' on the main cable connected PC that showed the network traffic through the router that could be reset to zero as required.

Microsoft Network Monitor good find!
It does tell the network traffic for a local PC in detail, including program name, activities, port number and time.

However, for other PCs in the network, it only shows their activities within the network. I don't see other public IP addresses show up in the monitor. And It doesn't tell what program(or port) uses the traffic.

Thanks! it's not bad!

I`ve been using in a network at office Total Network Inventory hardware inventory software to check all packets and software versions, connecting external devices to network, controlling licenses and versions of software etc. The price is OK, for a small company this solution is much cheaper comparing it to Lansweeper or Solarwinds. I suggest you to take a look - you can download hardware inventory tool trial for free with all options.
