Did you put a check mark for your music file to be shared? The first picture relates to Homegroups and putting check marks on the folders you want to share.

Using the "Network" User folders now, make sure that your "User name" has read/write permissions for your Music folder like in the second picture below. You just need access your User folder then right click the "My Music" folder and make sure that your name is on the "shared with" list with read/write permissions.

Although this would normally be enabled by default, it is possible to remove your self from the "shared with" list.

Chev65, could you tell me on which computer I should check for these settings: the laptop or the desktop? It is the laptop that is not seeing My Music on the desktop.

"should say desktop rather than laptop since you are having problem accessing the laptops music folder from the desktop"

You explained a bit different than your previous post which indicated you couldn't access the Laptop's own Music folder.

You didn't mention if you were using Homegroups or not but to access folders on the Network side of things you need to right click and allow for permissions on the Laptop's Music folder. It's easier and more secure to set up a Homegroup if all the machines are Windows 7.

The sharing permissions are a bit easier with Homegroups because you do not need to add "Everyone" to the shared with list.

The first picture shows the share for if you only want to share with the Homegroup, the second is for if you have a Homegroup set up and need to share with other types of OP systems or with everyone in your network.

The tutorial below will help you to share the Music folder.

Thanks for the explanation, chev65. I can't get to it now, but will try to sort things out by tomorrow. And, of course, I'll either post for more help, or thank you (and rep you) if i get it straight.
