How do I disable the internet temporarily in Win7 ?

I have a program thats calls home whenever I start it up and I don't want it to do that. What I want to do is disable the internet use the program then when I'm done, close the program then I would like to re-enable the internet quickly and conveniently. What are my options and how do I do it ?

By the way I have linksys router. I know your thinking why don't I not just pull the eithernet cable from pc or the router well because thats stuff is cramped behind the pc and something I don't want to do. thanks

i hope you aren't doing anything naughty.

anyway, you are using the default windows firewall?

type firewall into your start-menu searchbox- choose the 'windows firewall with advanced security' option.

on the left-hand side, click outbound rules - on the right, click 'new rule...'

then select the program you wish to block >> next >> block the connection >> next blah blah blah

If you are hard wired (CAT 5, CAT 5e or CAT 6) connected just disconnect the wire...use program then plug back in. This can be done at the computer or at the switch/router. -WS

I've got a wireless on/off key on my Dell Studio 1558... That seems to work for me.

Can't you tell the program, through a setup or options dialog box not to do that? What's the program? Perhaps we can help further.
