    Internet Connected but websites unavailable.

Hello everyone. My problem is that my internet only partially works. I am able to connect to the internet and I can see packets are being sent. P2P sharing works, steam can log on and the chat works, I am also able to play games online. (owned some people in MW2).

Now my problem is that any and all websites come out as not found in every browser in existence. I have checked my router and it works fine. My 3 other computers are connected the same way (tirelessly) with no issues. Even my iPod works. Another interesting thing is that if I switch accounts on the same computer the internet suddenly works fine, though this is not really an option for me as I have too much stuff accumulated on my original account.

I have tried to reinstall the drivers, reassign the networks, messed with ports and winsock fix. Nothing makes it work. I checked ipconfig and it looks normal, I have an assigned ip and everything. I tried to tracert and ping google.com. Came back clean.

Can someone please give me an idea as how this is fixed.

PS: Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and I do not live in some communist country where they block all forms of entertainment...China...

What firewall and anti-virus are you using?

After answering Ken's question above you may also want to check your lan settings in your browser. Seen a rash of this lately where some software, perhaps even malware has been editing the lan settings to include a proxy server connection that most ISP(s) don't require or support. So in IE8, select tools from the menu and then internet options, then the connections tab and then the LAN settings button near the bottom right, clear out the contents of the text boxes and uncheck the check boxes, click Ok and OK close and reopen IE8. Other browser will have similar settings you just have to look for them.
    Good luck

Try running this batch file which will reset winsock, reset the TCP/IP stack and release renew your IP. Reboot after running the batch file. If that doesn't fix the problem then please post a screen shot of your ipconfig /all here. :)

I am running Avast free edition, and I run windows 7 default firewall. Doesn't have anything to do with it as I have another computer with the exact same settings on the same network which works fine. It is not an incompatibility.

Disable Web Shield in Avast and see if it helps...

Ok. Here is what I have done:

I have run the netsh reset
I have disabled firewalls and antiviruses alike
I have pinged and tracert numerous websites

The internet is connected. I can play online, as well as any and all other things in my house work fine. Even the other user on this same computer.

None of the things I have tried worked though, so here are screenshots of my ipconfig and the netsh just in case.

Ok that is a strange way of posting pictures here lol, thanks for posting the ipconfig /all. :)

The second picture shows nothing coming from the router at all, it only shows the default settings where no default gateway is available.

I'm not sure why only this User is having problems, that is very strange. The batch file I posted should fix this type of problem.

It's also very possible that your A/V software caused this strange connection problem to occur. You sometimes need to uninstall the A/V to fix this.

According to you images your wireless adaper is not receiving any usable (routable) information from whatever should be providing DHCP information on your network (wireless router?) Both IPv4 and IPv6 are receiving apipa addresses used for communication on an internal network segment. I find it difficult to believe that with this happening that you can still "connect to the internet and I can see packets are being sent. P2P sharing works, steam can log on and the chat works, I am also able to play games online" as you indicated in your OP. My first suggestion would be to see if there is a potential firmware update for whatever wireless router you are using on your network. You need to have viable IP addressing information which includes a proper default gateway configuration inorder to communicate outside your local lan.

Hard to believe or not, I can. I can also upload some screenshots of cmd pinging any website. The problem is that somehow, and this is where I got confused and decided to get help, it does allow some kinds of informations through and it is also only blacked on one user on one computer. This user happens to be the one I use for almost everything...

I checked the router, before I posted, and it is completely up to date. Evidently no other user on the network is having troubles. I have no idea how it is possible for my computer to have limited the access in such a way that only websites are blocked.

    Image to judge for yourself:
