Can't connect Samsung netbook to Netgear router

I've just bought a Samsung N145 netbook running Windows 7 Starter. I can't get it to connect to my Netgear router (WGR614). The wireless utility can see my network but when I try to connect to it I get an error message saying there's a problem with the access point but the help files don't actually help.

My Dell laptop can connect OK and the netbook connects via an ethernet cable. I've checked online and my router should be compatible with the notebook and I've also checked for updates to the router software.

I've also tried turning off the WEP encryption on the router and the netbooks firewall without success.

Can anyone suggest what I could try to get connected?

Can you copy the exact error to this thread?

Have you tried resetting the modem and Router in order?

looks like it's a router problem

    Hi Brady,

yes I've tried resetting the modem and router (I'll give it another go though). I'm at work at the moment so will send over the exact error later. But I've brought the netbook into my office today and it connected to our wireless network first time without a problem (we have a BT hub and use Wep encryption here) so it looks like it's a problem related to my router.

dumb question but have you retyped the password just incase you misspelled?

Also reset the password on the wifi in-case the password you think it is is incorrect.

The dumb questions are the right ones more often than not but I copied the password into a txt file which I then used to copy and paste the password into the netbooks wireless login so I know it's right this time

Check for some driver updates for the netbook wireless.

I've now resolved the problem, I changed some router settings as suggested by tech support at Netgear (they were very helpful). I had to change the wireless zero configuration to automatic then delete my connection on my netbook and set the connection up from new. I'm not techhie enough to understand what that actually did, but if anyone would like more info, I'll post the instructions from netgear.

    thanks for all the advice
