Windows 7 Sharing Not working please help

    Hello,

I have a home network with a 2008 R1 domain and 2 Windows 7 workstations 64 bit. I have created thousands of shares in my time but this one machine i can't figure out whats wrong.

When I create a share on one of the Windows 7 pc's i cannot browse to it from any other machine. \\machinename or \\machinename\sharename I get "The network path was not found". I have also tried via IP Address.

I have been through the forums and tried setting the settings as recommended in Network and Sharing Center, I have tried some recommended reg settings, I have changed my local security settings, I have disabled my windows firewall, I have disabled antivirus and stuff. Nothing seems to work.

I can browse just fine to the other windows7 pc. I can also RDP to both boxes. And I can connect to the share from itself.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi! arkay, welcome to W7F :)

That's great that you were able to figure it out. Just out of curiosity what steered you to go a little farther with checking the services?

Then when you went to the link you provided.....You checked on one of the KB articles?

That is what I did, and found that MS suggests to check for an upgrade to the Endpoint program. Will you be considering the upgrade?

I found the KB and gave it a try. I just now uninstalled and reinstalled Symantec and everything seems to be functioning with everything enabled.

Great! I know the feeling, I just upgraded my intel chipset drivers, and some minor annoyances have settled down.

Wish you luck, and a Happy Thanksgiving!

I was about to mention that most likely your A/V software is causing the problem. Although most don't believe me when I say that it's true in most cases. Glad you got the problem sorted out Arkay. :)
