    50m network cable problem

Hi guys, I made myself a 50m network cable 2day, but it doesn't work.

I used a cat5e cable. I also tested the 8 wires individually to see if there are any issues but all of them are fine.

Its just when I plug it in nothing happens. The adapter works fine with my shorter cable(10m).

I have no idea what's wrong.

    Hope someone can help me.

well the length is not an issue if the single strands are fine the only thing I can think of (besides the plugs not "crimped" correctly so not all "knifes" penetrate the insulation) would be the layout in the plugs....there are 2 standards depending on what you want to accomplish
    TIA/EIA568a and 568b

As you can see for a patch cable you need to have identical layout for both ends.
while a cross over cable has one of each.

Make sure both end of your cable are wired to the B standard (WO, O, WG, B, WB, G, WB, B) if you do NOT switch green and blue wires and wire strait across you will induce noise and you will have no joy.

    tnx guys but nothing works.

I tested the wires an it has a resistance of 0.033(solid wires, not stranded)

My other 10m cable has a resiatance of 0.002.

So a took the wire back.

no idea what to do now...maybe I should buy a ready made wire....?
