UNBEARABLY Slow File sharing
I have 3 computers connected via LAN that share files, mostly Microsoft Word files. File sizes range from a few KBs to a couple hundred Kbs but nothing huge. All 3 computers are brand new as of less than 3 months from Dell. Every time I open a shared file it takes so long to open; on average 1-2 minutes depending on the size. If I make changes and save the file that also takes a long time. Before I upgraded to the new computers I was using Windows XP Pro on two computers and Windows 2000 on one computer and never had issues sharing files at such slow speeds. I even purchased a new router, went from a Linksys to a Netgear. I surf the internet at the blink of an eye and play my Xbox 360 online with no lags at all. I've talked to Dell and they have no idea what the problem is and same goes with Microsoft. I had to pay $60 to Microsoft for tech support! 3 hours of my Saturday and no results from them. I've searched numerous articles and forums and many people have had similar issues and some have had them fixed by tweaking certain settings. None of which have seemed to work for me. Please, if anybody can help I would really, really appreciate it since these computers are for my business and waiting around slows me down tremendously. Here's is my setup, all 3 computers are exactly the same:
Computer:
Dell Vostro 220
Windows 7 Professional 32 bit
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93GHz
3 GB of RAM
Network Card:
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (updated to current driver according to Dell's website)
Router:
Netgear WNDR3700
All computers are wired, no wireless.
AV Software:
Webroot Spyspweeper (updated to current version)
Thank you again for any help anybody can provide!!!
