Windows 7: windows 7 won't ask me for user&pass but just deny access over LAN!

I'm experiencing the same problem although, mine is to access a Lacie Network HardDrive which I can access normally with WinXP but the laptops were I'm using W7 I can't and it is a share which doens't have any user or password, it can be accessed by anyone inside the network

I could access it in W7 until a few days =S

Where is it? Is it in your user directory? Is it on another partition? The location of the file/folder is very important when it comes to sharing.

Actually, your problem is not the same as the OP. You have a network attached storage device which does not run Windows. Windows sharing doesn't apply when it comes to your device. Please start a new thread for your issue.

Attempting to password-protect share a folder

I'm having this same issue. I want to share a single folder over a network and have a password on it. I understand I need to create a new user account and password on the computer with the share and then choose to share that folder with that specific user. Unfortunately, when other computers try to access that share they're not even prompted to log in but simply are refused access.

I've followed several different tutorials on this sharing process and I have to conclude Windows 7 was designed by monkeys:L
