    DNS Server not responding

    Hello Friends,

I'm often having this issue where i won't "be able to connect to Internet then when i run the troubleshooter it says "DNS Server not responding" then i have to reboot my Beetel 110BX1 ADSL Modem and BELKIN N150 Wireless Router Fireware version: F6D4230-4_WW_1.00.03.

I have tried to reset everything to default settings and re-configure them again. There is update version of firmware than i have now. I have Avast Internet Security as if now computer is under Selective Startup.

Manually tried to enter the Preferred DNS IP. Still can't get it to work properly. Reinstalled the Network adapter drivers no go. Its getting annoying since it's happening more often. ISP provider wasn't much of a help either. I hope someone could help.

Do you have more than one computer connected to the router? Does it also have this problem? Have you considered uninstalling Avast, rebooting, and seeing if you continue to have the problem?

Thanks for the replay Mate !

Yes I have a desktop and it works fine. I think it's because it it uses Wired connection. I once uninstalled it for 3 days to test same problem though.

I just had a similar situation: Motorola cable modem, Linksys Router with 5 PCs/Laptops.
It started out like in your case and ended last Sunday morning when there was no way to connect to the DNServer. After I exhausted all my options I called the cable guy in (no..not Larry . After he measured the cable parameter and couldn't connect with his laptop he ended up exchanging the modem and everything worked again. I had that thing for almost 10 years so it just was past due
What I'm trying to say here is, don't rip everything apart just yet...there could still be faulty network equipment to blame. (Especially if even manually entered DNS work)

If the desktop works, I'd try uninstalling Avast. You might also want to check the wireless settings on the router.

Yup .. I'll uninstall Avast soon. Wireless settings are left to default no changes made to it. Just changed the PIN number for Wireless Router. Also changed the DNS Server address there as well. Any other settings need to check in router ?

I'm not familiar with Belkin routers, so I can't help with those settings. Now, if you had a Linksys or a D-Link, then that would be a different story!

    Hello DG,

Berlin router is a month old i really hope that works fine. ADSL Modem is a year old maybe that could be the problem. But the desktop works fine. So i'm having second thoughts about it.

Capt. I have had problems like this with Belkin Routers. If it is only 30 days old I would exchange it for another and see if that corrects the problem. -WS
