Windows 7: I seriously mucked up permissions -can't access C:

That link works fine for me Dayzed, I've posted it many times before and used it myself so it works fine.

If you have problems downloading that file then I'd say you have other problems with your system.

That link works fine for me Dayzed, I've posted it many times before and used it myself so it works fine.

If you have problems downloading that file then I'd say you have other problems with your system.
The problem was I was using Google Chrome. I have some issues with it and downloading sometimes. I tried Firefox and it worked fine. But I had already used Baarod's code and it worked great so I won't need the download now. But repped ya for it!

I could have written the takeown and icacls commands to do the same thing but the OP requested permissions be blasted wide open for the expressed purpose of data recovery prior to reinstall.

permissions to access folders
recently when i updated my os from vista to windows 7 ..there were some folders (containing mp3's ) which were on sharing on lan.. now.. all those files that were being shared required me to take ownership of it before i can access it.. i have more than 3000 songs and its not quite practical for me...
