Dual boot pc with 7 and xp network issue

I have had windows xp installed on this pc for a while and then installed windows 7 with a dual boot. I just logged into xp and was having internet issues. It would show the pc as having an ip but the internet would not work with ie or chrome.

I checked the dns in services and made it automatic, performed a ipconfig/ release renewe. Finally i did a netsh command and restarted and it worked.

A few mins later it stopped working. I went into 7 and the internet was working fine with no issue so my nic card is fine.

I tried uninstalling the device and restarted, it worked upon restart but 2 mins later stopped working. I did a drive rollback and now it does not get an ip. Renewing said it could not be completed.

I have several pcs all working on the network, i restarted the router but that did not help. This is a wired connection. I studied networking a while back so i went through all the steps i remember but it puzzles me that it works and then all of a sudden stops.

The other forum posts I read about this problem were resolved by resetting winsock but it looks like you tried that already.

The batch file in the link below does a bit more than resetting just winsock so it might be worth a try. After running the batch file reboot and post a screen shot of your ipconfig /all from the XP machine.

This batch file which will reset winsock, reset the TCP/IP stack and release renew your IP.
