Remote Desktop to Dual Monitor System

There is a lot of discussion about dual-monitors and Remote Desktop, but I can't seem to find a question that matches my situation that contains an answer that applies.

I hope this is the right place for this question.

1. I have a desktop computer at home that has two monitors of the same resolution and is side-by-side. It is setup so that when you maximize any program, it will only maximize within the monitor it was displayed in and not across both. Yet, you can move your mouse from one monitor to the next as they appear seamless. This computer runs Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.

2. I have a laptop I take on travels. It is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

I am able to Remote Desktop from my laptop to my home desktop system. However, I am unable to work with both monitors. I see only my left monitor with all my icons (from both monitors) bunched onto this one.

I'd like to be able to click a button or tab or something to let me jump from one monitor view to the other. The Remote Desktop app does not appear to provide any buttons or anything to allow this, and when I look at my desktop display settings remotely, it only shows one monitor rather than two and says I cannot affect the settings remotely.

I have also installed the Splitview program on my desktop (remote) to see if that would fix my issue. It was installed for Terminal Services. Although this program is running on my remote desktop, remotely accessing it from my laptop shows no changes and still no way to access the other monitor. I see the Go Left and Go Right sub-menu items in my program run on the remote desktop, but they only move the app to the right or left of my single monitor view. It is as if my remote monitor only has one monitor configured, although it physically has two.

I've run mstsc /span and even configured the RDP for span, but still no workie.

I'm puzzled as to what my options are.
