    Connected but under 1 Mb/s

Currently my computer will connect to the wireless network but the connection is very poor, with less than 1 MB/s download. I have verified it is not the internet itself or the distance from the router, by removing it to a location closer to the router and getting the same issue and also by plugging the Ethernet cable directly into the machine. While plugged in directly, the speed is ~25 MB/s or higher. The issue began several days ago after taking the machine over to a friend's house and subsequently bringing it back. It connected to his wireless with no issue, but when I brought it back home the connection was bad.
Initially I restarted the router several times, and rebooted the PC several as well, but the problem persisted. I noticed an Icon on the desktop that had not been there prior to taking over my friend's house, "Homegroup" (The computer is originally his). I deleted the Homegroup connection and restarted, but there was again no change in connectivity. I ran the Network Adapter troubleshoot a number of times, mostly receiving two messages: There is a problem with the Wireless Router or Access Point, and The Wireless Network Adapter has a cable missing or unplugged.. something to that effect. This was several days ago and I cannot remember. It's difficult to reproduce these messages, because the computer IS connecting to the internet, and in fact I'm online right now on it. But the connection is very poor and cannot sustain streaming content at all, or online games at all. In World of Warcraft, for instance, my latency has gotten as high as 16000ms before finally disconnecting me. It is simply unplayable.

My next thought was to remove the WAN adapter and install a different one, then see if that had any effect.

    System:
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
    AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 945 Processor 3.00 GHz
    2.00 GB RAM

    WAN:
    Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter #2

    Internet is Verizon FiOs
    Verizon brand modem+wireless router configuration

Recently ran speedtest while on wireless connection

Drivers for the adapter are updated, forgot to mention that.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you

Have you checked the wireless connection manager to make sure that you didn't change the credentials and security for your at home connection? Network and sharing center>upper left to wireless connection manager.

When in doubt delate the old wireless connection credential and created a new one making sure that the connection matches your routers settings, SSID, password, security and encryption you set up on your router.

    Hi Tedward,

Usually the download reading is higher than the upload, yours is the other way around.

Have you tried a direct connection to the Modem, then run the Speedtest again? Also, test your connection here.

Is there any laptop/computer that you can plug in to the router, wired and wireless and see if you're able to duplicate the issue?

This is also interesting, by any chance do you have the right power cable plugged in to the Modem and same thing as your router.

    An update will be appreciated.
