Maybe this link will help. Looks like setting it up as a web server might work but I'm not sure where the router fits into this.

Thanks I had read that article and Ad Hoc works but it is a kinda "second class" option. It only allows wep security (which shouldn't really effect me) and the range will be much reduced.

I momentarily had some data transfer using the wan bu tit only lasted about 2 sec and I haven't managed to repeat the experience.

ICS and Ad Hoc working with wireless but not with wired through the router gives me an idea, maybe the marvell drivers in win7 aren't quite up to snuff. I'll another NIC.

edit:
GRRR - That absolutely was it. I switched NICs using the NVidia for the WAN and the Marvell for the switch and it is working now. I'll look around for a newer driver for the Marvell (I just used win7 defaults) but I'm not going to waste too much more time

thanks for the help and patience

Usually the WHQL approved drivers will work the best, it looks like some expermintation between the drivers is getting you somewhere.

After some more reading it seems that marvell yukon 80E8001/*** series nics used on some Nforce motherboards don't work properly in Win7. I may try an alternate router to check if that plays a part as the current one "sees" the card IP, the card just doesn't "see" the router and can't be assigned an IP from the DHCP server of the router.

Win 7 broadcasting DHCP packets every minute
I've got a Windows 7 box that's broadcasting from it's IP (as opposed to 0.0.0.0 like when it's trying to get an IP address), UDP port 68 to UDP 67 every 62 or 63 seconds. That's more than a little excessive. How dow e get it to settle down?
