Help! Cannot access media through NAS

    Hi,
I'm new at this and am becoming very frustrated with a problem I'm having. I attached an EZ-NAS to my external Western Digital hard drive in order to be able to access pictures and music from either one of the two laptops we have in our home. The NAS show up on our network as a media device. I try to open it and it brings up Media Center. When I click on my picture or music folder it either says that the library is empty or that the connection isn't allowed.

Any help or suggestions you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Cavalry CAUM series 500GB external HDD hooked up to the WNDR37AV Netgear via USB NAS and it also shows up under "Media Devices" as you say yours does. However, mine also appears in the "Computer" list in the top of the "Network" tree under the same name (Cavalry EHHD). Is yours listed there, in addition to the "Media Devices" below?

If it is listed in both places, click on the one under "Computer" and it will take you to the drive in windows explorer, just as with your other computers remotely accessed over the network, rather than launching in windows media center (mine will also launch like this if I click on the drive under "Media Device" subgroup of the Network tree instead of the "Computer" listing).

As to why it is telling you it is "empty" or "connection isn't allowed", I can't help you there - don't know anything about it but I hope the "Computer" vs. "Media Device" listing helped.

    NAS

    Hi,
At first mine only showed up as a media device, but then started showing up under the computer area, as well. None of my files showed up when I accessed that 'computer' I ended up moving all of my files to the public folder so that I could get at them.

    Thanks for your help!
