Broadband Speed Checker going funny on Virgin Media?

I have been getting very bizzarre results for my download speed from a large number of test sites. Speedtest.net which is normally very good is also giving me some very strange results no matter what server I use.

I am supposed to get 20Mb which I am getting but the results it gives me are 70Mb if not more.

I think it may have something to do with VM introducing 100Mb broadband, but I wanted to see if anyone else was getting these strange readings with Virgin Media or any other broadband provider.

    Certainly different from mine.

I tested 5 random servers around the US with speedtest. Cox is my ISP.

All 5 were near 4 upload.

    The downloads were 11, 12, 21, 22, and 28.

I tested Manchester and got 2 up and 10 down.

Looks like Virgin has finally increased the upload speeds.

    This is mine:

What do the figures in your router show? These should be equal or greater than the figures shown above.

Converting to kbps, I get the following result.

    Download: 5550.08 < 6270
    Upload: 911.36 < 1123

Most of us would do anything to get a speed like you've reported. What sort of problems are you having with your connection?

The readings are not correct readings, but the most I seem to be getting is it peaking at 36Mbs, but it averages at 20Mbs, so basically I am paying for 50Mbs and only getting 20Mbs.

This is my 50Mb Virgin speed. I earlier was getting really high speeds ( 180 Mb ) but it turned out an AV prog was affecting the results
