Windows 7: Network access unavailable

Network access unavailable

I fear I have shot myself in the foot, and I'm going to need some help. I have removed AVG's free version, with great difficulty, by using a program called Revo Uninstaller, and I suspect I have damaged my registry. I used to have no problems accessing my network and internet wirelessly, but now I can not get Windows onto the network (including with a cable). I end up with not connected or limited availability messages. I have this happen when both booting Windows only on my Macbook, or running Windows as a VM using parallels. Prior to the extraction of AVG, all was good, plus Mac OS has no difficulties getting onto the network.

Is there a way to reload/repair my windows files without reinstalling it? I have a legal copy of Win 7 Pro 32bit.

Thanks in advance...

I should have mentioned I tried that, and none of the restore points work (there are about 8 or 10 listed). I recall that XP used to allow for a repair, at least I thot so...

You can do a repair install, but it's nothing like previous versions of Windows. It's basically a re-installation that keeps your user files.

Have you tried removing the NIC from the device manager, rebooting, and letting Windows discover it again?

Also,
try clicking on the network icon in the tray and click on Troubleshoot problems.
Windows will try to repair it.

Unfortunately none of these suggestions are working. Troubleshooter has never come up with any problems, and removing the NIC from the device manager just brings it back the same; working but with limited access to my network.

If the problem is in the TCP/ip stack or winsock then running the batch file below will fix it, but if your registry is hosed then it's harder to fix without knowing what changes were made to it.

Try running this batch file which will reset winsock, reset the TCP/IP stack and release renew your IP.

I ran that in RUN, and reset Windows, it didn't seem to change anything...thanks though.

Is there a way to repair the windows files without reinstalling all my programs?

Network-accessable-storage incorrectly marked unavailable
I recently installed a small network-accessible-storage drive - a WD MyBookLive. When Windows starts up it seems to take a long time to connect to the drive, and I get an alert saying the drive is unavailable. (I don't remember the wording.) This is fine since the device eventually comes online....
