Remove Network icon in Nav pane in Win 2008 Serv R2

    Hello
Thank you for this tip & very clear explanation.
If only MS could be so helpful.

I have several related questions & problems that you may wish to help with:
    1) i am a newbie
    2) i administer a new Windows 2008 Server R2 (for RDS)
    3) i want to:
    a) Remove Network icon from Navigation Pane;
affecting only non-administrator account(s) on this R2 computer.
    b) also remove the default Network desktop icon as well.
    c) also remove Network from the "Open" and "Save as" type windows.

your patience & help are greatly appreciated !

single Windows 2008 Server R2 system (no Active Directory or Domain)
must use Local Group Policy editor (Group Policy Management console not available without a Domain)
    set up wth:
RD Sessions Host role (no RD Session Gateway)
    RDweb Access
remote users access only RemoteApp apps (no Remote Desktop allowed)

    thanks rick

    Hello Rick,

Windows 7's core is suppose to be about the same as Windows Server 2008. You might see if you may be able to do that tutorial in Windows Server 2008 to see if it may be able to remove the Network icon for you.

I'm afraid that I do not know how to help with the rest.

    Hope this helps some,
    Shawn
