Can't see uPNP server
I have searched around, and tried various things - but this is still eluding me.
Firstly, a breakdown of my network topology.
- BT HomeHub ADSL Router - acting as DHCP Server (Everything on 192.168.1.x)
- Combined wired 100MB and Wireless devices
- QNAP NAS acting providing windows shares, and Twonky Media Server)
- Various devices (XBox 360, Windows 7 Ultimate x86 laptop, Windows 7 ultimate x64 desktop, iPad etc)
All my media is stored on the QNAP NAS, and ultimately distributed by Twonky Media Server. My XBox 360 can access the Twonky Server via uPNP and play content. My iPad using a uPNP client can connect wirelessly to play media from Twonky.
However neither of my Windows 7 Ultimate PCs can find the Twonky Server. I know that they can see the physical server, because they are both using UNC shares from the same NAS box - so it cannot be a physical network issue.
Ironically, both Windows 7 PC can see each other's uPNP servers (windows media player) but they refuse to see the Twonky Media Server.
Can anyone provide any pointers? I have tried disabling the firewalls on the Windows 7 PCs but that makes no difference.
[EDIT] As a test I tried one of my Windows 7 Ultimate Laptops on a wireless connection to the LAN and it can see the Twonky Media Server - however on a wired connection, it cannot. What could be the difference between a wired and wireless connection on the same LAN that is causing this issue?
