Where do I find User name and password ?

    Good afternoon,

I am trying to network a notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium and a notebook with Windows XP Home Edition operating systems. The settings in Windows 7 were done under Work network rather than Home network. The Windows 7 computer is able to see all the files that have been shared on Windows XP machine.

In My Network Places / View Workgroup Computers on the Windows XP machine the Windows 7 machine is visible. When right click to Open a dialogue box appears asking for a User name and Password. Please will someone tell me where I can find this information on the Windows 7 machine. I have tried my admin password.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

Usually if I need to use the User/Pass to access a machine remotely, I use my admin name and password...sometimes this doesn't work, in which case I just create another account on that remote machine (when I can get to it) and give myself admin access. That always has worked for me.

Is the windows 7 a work machine?
you should be able to get in using your personal username / password that you use to log on to the machine. If you don't currently use one I suggest creating one for your primary account.
If it was setup by a IT at work, it will more than likely require their admin info to gain access.

Both machines need to have a User account in common.
