Won't let me share files in Homegroup

Ok, I've been googling for several nights now, trying all kinds of things and I cannot get this to work. I have no idea why microsoft does such simple things through the ass, maybe to make people go crazy. Here's the problem:

I have wifi network setup, homegroup with my blueray dvd player, xbox 360, 3 other computers (all windows 7).

on homegroup options, I check marked all options, video, music, docs etc to be shared, and also to be streamed.

I made 3-4 folders in my drive (f) to put all my stuff in there that I wanted to share, but when I right click either of the folders and go to "share with" they all are set to "nobody" and when I click "sharewith homegroup" at buttom of screen something blinks as if another screen opened for a second- but nothing changes, it stayes on "nobody". Nothing fixed this. Not replacing securities, not remaking homegroup, I mean i've tried 100 different things and nothing seems to work.

Funny thing, on my xbox/dvd player - 2 of these folders are visable and I can play files in them, although they are both set to "nobody" as well. But others aren't. I have no idea if this is a common issue, please someone maybe try to help?

It may help when you get to the "share with" menu, to click on "specific people" then when you get to the next page add "Everyone" to the shared with list and add "read/write" to the share permissions for Everyone. The Everyone setting should allow you to share with machines outside the Homegroup.

As for sharing the folders on the Drive F, this takes a bit more effort because it's considered to be a security risk, you will need to add the drive's network location to one of your Homegroup folders in order for the contents of the drive to show up in your Homegroup folders. Just go into one of the Homegroup folders, at the top it will say 2 locations "in blue", click that, then click the "add" button and add the network drive's location to the Homegroup folder of your choice.

For full drive access you need to go into the Security tab of the drive, highlight "Authenticated Users" and hit the edit button, put check marks for full access and control, hit the apply button, this only gives Authenticated Users access.

For full access for Everyone in your network, hit the "add" button then type Everyone where it says "enter the object names to select" hit OK, then put check marks in the boxes to give full control to Everyone, hit the apply button and then OK.

Thanks for the reply,. Yes thats usually how its done, but it won't let me do that on this one.

When I go to "specific people" - it is added on there, I have "everyone" "network" and other things added with "full access" or w/e. The thing its not letting me do it seems is actually "start" sharing.
Lets say I click "specific people" and then highlight "everyone" - at buttom right when I click "share", the window just closes really fast as if it crashed, and when I right click again, and check "share with" - it's still on "nobody". I tried editing securities to allow full access to everyone, I made sure my whole drive is sharable (this isn't my OS drive, its just a storage drive), I mean did everything I'd usually do.

I tried making new library, and putting the folder in there - but when I try to even share that new library, it does same sh*t. The "share with" is just "stuck" on "nobody" and won't switch from that no matter what.

In services - all my peer/networking etc things that need to be started, are started. In serviceprofiles - I tried deleting those files in the roamingapp or w/e folder that people recommend - that allowed me to exit homegroup and then enter again- but still doesn't make any difference :/

Feels like something is broken, or some kind of error or something - but its not actually giving me an error. Dam windows... grr.

That is a strange problem for sure, havn't seen this one like this yet and I'v seen a million of them.. You should only be using the default Library's for this,ie Music,Pictures,Documents,Video's.

It might help to change all your networking services from manual to Automatic, there is also a chance that your router isn't up to the task of dealing with the IPv6 protocol but it would have to be pretty old for that to happen.

I can post a couple of trouble shooters also.
