Windows Explorer keeps jumping back from network drive to the main pag

    Hi!

I have a Windows 7 Professional 32 bit operating system, which is joined to a domain at my workplace. If i open Eindows Explorer and open a network drive ( I:\ ), then the Windows Explorer open's it, but after a few seconds later, it jumps back to the main page. It is very annoying. I have 11 network drives, but only on two networks drives occurs this problem.

Has anyone met with this problem? Or could some give me a clue, how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    kampi

    Hi there,

A few at my work have been experiencing this same problem. I'm one of the IT guys and I just rebuilt my machine yesterday with Windows 7 Pro x64. Since the rebuild, I'm experiencing this issue as well. Haven't found a fix yet, but if I do, I'll be sure to post it here.

    Hi!

In the meantime i found the solution (at least in my case). I use DFS share, and this is a bug. There is a hotfix at : You cannot access a DFS share through a mapped network drive on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 I installed it, and now everything is fine. I don't know if you're using a DFS too, but hopefully this will help you.

Yes we are! I had a feeling it might have to do with DFS. Thanks very much! I'll give this a try.

I also think that this will fix your problem. I noticed that Windows 7 has many problems with DFS. I met more issues with DFS and any other but cant found a solution, and microsoft is not very helpfull....
    - windows explorer redirects to the root directory - the hotfix will fix what i told you earlier
    - windows explorer shows two network drive with the same drive letter - earlier hotfix is good for this too
    - if i create a directory on a network drive (DFS) then i can't see the created directory until i refresh windows explorer - didn't found a fix yet
    - shortcuts to network drives (also DFDS) on the desktop have suddenly removed - didn't found a fix, but probably this is till related with DFS
    - can't start WebClient service (Acces Denied), however i am admin - this may not be a DFS problem, but if i can't start this service, and want open an office file from sharepoint, word freezes, and only reboot helps, didn't found a fix either
    - if i save a .doc file on my desktop after editing it the icon will change its position. .docx file stays where i put it - didn't found a fix either
