Try changing your DNS with:
Open DNS:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
or
Google DNS
8.8.8.8
8.8.8.4
stalker,
thank you, i tried 8.8.4.4 in the wireless connection properties preferred dns box, but it didnt make a difference
previously i had my default router gateway address in there.
it is always one site in particular that doesnt work....windowsupdate.microsoft.com...
ive heard its common problem, and never found posted resolutions...
i also tried flushing dns cache, and ipconfig /renew
i also reconfigured router to manual dns with 8888, 8844, and domain name= google.com???, anyway it didnt make a difference
i also closed AV & windows firewall...
tracert timed out and ping numeric address timed out...

Try to delete cookies on your browser, delete the cache. Also give a try this:
Go to C:/Windows/system32/drivers/etc. There is a file called hosts. Open it with Notepad / Notepad++ and make a screenshoot of it,and post the picture here. Maybe some sites are blocked by windows.
A Preferred Method of Uploading/Posting Screen Shots
no luck so far...
I'd try a spyware scan if you haven't done that already. SUPERAntiSpyware is a good one.
If still no luck, give Firefox a shot and see if that makes a difference. If it does we'll know the problem lies with IE and not your Network settings in general.
What happens when you try to run Windows Update from Control Panel? :)
update works fine from CP.
thanks ! FF gives me this for that site , better than before for sure.... so whats up with IE8...
Have you run a spyware check? Besides the one I mentioned before, a go-round with Malwarebytes would be a good idea.
thanks, no luck so far,
also tried most of these:You receive an error message in Internet Explorer: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
except auto fix.
do i need to reload IE8 ?
i noticed its happening on both networked computers, laptop & desktop. The desktop is only a few months.
