    No internet on start up.

Hi everybody. Hope you can help me with an issue i am having. Every time i start my pc up i have to go to the back and take the ethernet cable out and put it into my 2nd ethernet port. Most of the time this works but some times it does not and requires an instant reboot. I know my mother board is a bit out dated and my router (Linksys wrt54gs).
Any help on this problem would be much appreciated.

P.s my brother has windows 7 also and does not have this problem on his pc, neither did i on the same pc but when i ran vista.

Just a bit more infro regarding the issue,if i put my pc into sleep i have to change the ethernet port, but if i put it into sleep a second time both ethernet ports wont give me internet, thus requiring another reboot. I'm gonna try updating my router firmware and see if it makes a difference.

Welcome A5hm, something leads me to believe that your ethernet cards are having their power turned off.

Got to the properties of your ethernet cards in my computer/properties, device manager and network cards. and see if the power option is checked that allows windows to
turn off the card to save power. that might be your problem.

Thank you for the reply, but as of this morning i fixed the problem. My motherboard updates did not include my chipset drivers unfortunatley, so after installing the new drivers which included an update for my ethernet ports, they are now working correctly.
