I am trying to use windows 7 build 7000 32 bit for connecting to my school network as I find working on Windows 7 much easier than vista or xp. The school says to use securew2 which works fine for me on vista. The network uses EAP-TTLS with PAP to connect. When I go to setup the network authentication method the securew2 option is not in the drop down menu to select which I need to configure all the settings. I have tried to install securew2 with compatability mode under vista and xp and always installing as admin. Is there a way to do this with a different piece of software? Is there a workaround for choosing a different authentication method? So i need somehow to connect with 802.1X authentication and EAP-TTLS with PAP inner authentication
Firlian has figured a temporary work around, but if anyone can find a better solution (without needing Vista, for example!), please post it! Here's the work around post:
Flipper PA thanks a lot for that. It worked for me with a little tweak to that guide in step 2 the command didn't work for me but it was something small I changed which a blurb will be given in cmd to tell you that its wrong and what to fix.
Any chance I could get a copy of that XML file? I don't have a working copy of Vista so I still haven't been able to get it running correctly! I'm guessing I'd have to manually edit the XML file, but could easily import it to the 7 beta. Maybe attach the XML file you generated here as a .txt attachment? That'd be a big help to everyone!
Ok I have attached the xml file as a txt document. Hopefully you can edit it and get it to work for you. If you need anything else let me know and I can try to help out
Huh, I'm gettnig a Profile format error 0x80001 when I try to add with netsh: The profile is invalid according to the schema. The network connection profile is corrupted. I can't see anything wrong in the XML, I'll keep playing, but if anyone else can post their XML file as a source, it'd be appreciated! :)
I had that error too. What solved it for me was that I had actually forgot to install the securew2 on my windows 7 partition. So after I installed that and then imported it, it worked. Hopefully its something as easy as that.
I'm pretty sure I need TTLS - if anyone has the correct definition for the XML file (or a separate for TTLS rather than EAP), help would be great! Thanks, ab111.
