Sharing wireless connection with 360 through ethernet

Ok, not sure if this is where this goes, but I'll try and see. I use Wi-Fi and a wireless router to connect my laptop to the internet. I really don't want to stretch my 50 foot ethernet cable across the house to the router, and I came upon a tutorial that showed me how to share my internet wireless connection with my 360 by plugging the 360 into my laptops ethernet port. Are there any downsides to having a 'shared' connection? I know when I connect to xbox live my connection will be split between my xbox and my laptop, but does having a shared connection bring up any issues when my xbox is off? I haven't noticed anything yet, but I only did it today. But I don't wanna have any surprises down the road, such as having to repair my connections ever other day. Thanks guys.

I don't see the downside here, except having your laptop running while your gaming.

But why not get yours4elf a wireless adapter for your 360?

I think this is possible, using the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Adapter. I'll look into it.

I plan on getting one soon, but right now I dont have the funds to do so. I just wanna fix until then, and hopefully I won't have to drag out my fifty foot ethernet cable
