Not Quite Following... You would have to tell the box the Password to connect in the first place. You can also do a System Restart on the Rodu XDS to do a definite forget of your network password

What I meant was after having successfully connected it to a wireless network, if in the future, I need to disconnect the Roku from a wireless network to do a firmware upgrade of my router, how would I do this?

You can configure the Roku in the settings. I have two Roku boxes, and both have the ability to be wireless, but I don't enter any SSID information in them. Plus, when you plug in the ethernet cable, I believe that becomes the primary connection.

Oh... you know you don't have to worry about disconnecting any devices from a router to do firmware upgrades... trust me the router knows what to do.... the only thing you should worry about is connecting a LAN to upgrade firmware, that is the best bet there.

Like the guy said.. You can always delete Wireless connections from setup menus with no problems.
