Windows 7 Ultimate 64

I scheduled an appointment with ATT&T to have someone come out and take a look this weekend. In the meantime, I'm going to be trying a number of things to see if I can resolve it on my own. I'll keep you posted.

Here is a true story:

I'll use Time Warner for example....

You can have your own router at the house. Anything behind that router... Cable modem and behind they will touch... they don't have to touch your router and afterwards. Not in the contract.

If you purchase a wireless router from them that you pay an extra $4 a month to lease from them, then they will touch that and nothing beyond that...

Just for heads up... don't expect miracles from your ISP

I have never tried plugging a computer directly into the U-Verse box via network cable but I will give that a shot when I get home from work today.

Hello friends, the problem has been resolved. It turns out that there was nothing wrong with either the switch or the U-Verse box.

The U-Verse box has 2 connections on the back: 1 RJ45 port and 1 coaxial cable port. The problem was I had them both plugged in at the same time when only ONE is supposed to be used. I disconnected the RJ45 cable and hooked up the box with just the coaxial cable and now everything is fine.

Apparently, ATT&T provides the option to use the RJ45 port for non-HD content but reserves the coaxial cable for HD content.

Entire W7 network loses connection randomly
