Not receiving N-band

I'm using a HP HDX16 with Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN and have a router that has wireless N, but my computer doesn't have a setting to specifically use N nor is it automatically connecting as N. I've tried getting new drivers for my wireless adapter and even downloading a few from other sites and installing them, but to no avail. I bought a wireless adapter for an older HP model that I knew couldn't connect to the N my router has and it has 150mbs. My computer seems to be stuck on connecting to G and in my configuring of my adapter the only options are a/b/g when I know it could use N. I have n channel mode enabled and width on auto for both settings. I'm kinda lost as to what to do and any advice will be appreciated and tried posthaste! pun intended

I don't know what other info to post, but i'll be checking regularly and will reply swiftly if anyone requires more info about my comp or what i've done already.

Unless it's the Intel 'Ultimate' 5100, you're running a/b/g.

Well it sounds like brady summed it up. I get 54mbs connection speed with a belkin play n600 HD wireless dual N band router. That's what it says on the router. My wireless adapter built in isn't an "ultimate", but why have options for 802.11n?

f7d8301 v1 is the model of the router or are you asking about the model number of the adapter or pc. I've switched to the routers default settings which are wpa2 with AES.

All connected devices must be N compliant. If one is not then you won't get N speeds.
