    The fix!

if you want to access the files on another Windows 7 machine and you are having problems then:

    1) Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center
2) Click Choose Homegroup and sharing options
    3) Leave Homegroup

Once you have left then you should be able to access the other computer's files by:

    1) Start > Documents
    2) in the Address bar type: Network
    3) Click enter and Wait for a bit
    4) Once your Computer Shows up just click on it and Type the User and Password
NOTE: if you don't have a password then you need to set one for this to work

You are done! hope this helps anyone with problems sharing files your network

EDIT: Make sure your network is set to Home Network or it won't work (Most Likely is a Home Network unless your at Business or City Hotspot)

    Hi,

with regards to my simple problem of being unable to access my main PC files from my LAPTOP, with the annoying window asking for user & password..... I made one last try and the following worked for me...

My domain was LAPTOP, as per what it says in the pop up window........ then the NETWORK PASSWORD.

If one doesn't know it then it can be found on your system.

I feel quite chuffed now lol

Many thanks to everyone for their trials and tribulations
