    Wireless Connects Wired won't

I bought a Windows 7 machine today. I went home and plugged the ethernet jack into the computer - it finds the connection, but won't connect to the internet. The wireless works fine. The wired works on my old vista machine. I went over the a friend's place - same deal, and their new Windows 7 machine doesn't work in the wired connection either. We are both Shaw cable subscribers in Western Canada.

I have tried restarting, disabling/re-enabling the drivers, updating the connection drivers. I can't think of anything else - suggestions?

    What does ipconfig show?

Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as show, including double quotes:

    cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

    and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

I am having the exact same problem Yesterday i turned on my computer to check facebook real quick and i noticed my internet security was down and said i was not connected to the internet so i thought maybe my computer started up wrong. I restarted it and my desktop computer was still unable to connect to the internet but everything wireless still worked. I unplugged my ethernet from my router and I tried pluggin in my ethernet from my computer directly into my modem and still the same thing so i though maybe it was the modem so i connected everything again and i have a ps3 and xbox 360 with a wired connection plugged into my router they both work fine. I said to myself "what the heck is wrong!" i thought maybe my computer might have a virus so i did a full system scan with my avast internet security and found nothing. I thought mabye i had a defective eathernet cable so i switched it out with a new one and still the same thing. I even tried plugging in the cable into one of the other 4 slots of my router and still nothing so i thought y dont i shut off my router and modem and wait a bit and plugg them back in one minute at time and see if it works. OMG STILL NOTHING! IF anyone could help please.
