Wireless Network Signal Strength Icon Displaying red Cross

Hello, I am new to this Forum.

My Wireless Network Signal Strength Icon is currently displaying a red cross as per this Screen Shot:



Despite the incorrect icon display, my Local Wireless Network is functioning perfectly.

How can I restore the Icon to display rising bars?

Assistance will be gratefully accepted, thanks.

Try This:

click on the icon>click Open Network and Sharing center>on the left side of the window that will open click Change Adapter Settings>right click on local area network and select disable.

I would suggest not doing this (no offense), unless you always remember how to re-enable it, should you ever need the hardwired network.

its not hard to re-enable it

Hi, I am also having the same problem as highland rob did. However when I pointed the cursor at this icon, it displayed the Wi-Fi id and saying "internet access". Regardless the wired LAN card is disabled or not, the same icon with red cross still shown. By the way, there is no "show when connected" under "change adapter settings".
I had the Wi-Fi rising bars icon few days ago but all of a sudden it was changed to this "wired network" with a red cross. I would like to get the rising bars icon back.

Any solution to this problem yet? Appreciate any update on this. Thanks.

Just before I logged in to this thread, I noticed the icon has changed back to the original rising bars - I haven't done anything, I guess MS must have heard my complaint!
