    VPN disconnects INTERNET

    Hi,

I am using CISCO Anyconnect. But regardless of what VPN, what happens is that connecting to VPN disconnects me from Internet which doesnot happen with XP.

Is there a solution for this with anyone, please.

For clarification, I continue to stay connected to VPN, but any other net dependent application like IE, Outlook, Skype do not work, and the wireless network status shows "no network access".

Sounds like the vpn tunneling is not working.

Is your vpn set to route all traffic through the vpn, or just some (like rdp.)

How do I check the tunneling? I don't find any options for settings on te Anyconnect panel. I installed it the same way as in XP, through our corporate RDP site.

    Thanks.

hm. There was difference in VPN from XP to Vista. Back in XP, when you connected in to VPN you got access to internet from VPN. When Vista came, you only got access to VPN local network, while you still used "local" internet access. No idea why you have problems tho, but its probably connected to this, if you said it was working in XP and it doesnt in Vista/7. I still didnt figure out how to fix this... but oh well, not like im using VPN that much that could be bothered.

    Hi ...

So I do face something similar to this....

I have Windows 7 Enterprise (corporate image from my firm), and some additional messengers running like Skype which allows me to take conference calls outside my office network. The problem starts when I connect my VPN. Once VPN is connected, all my messengers like Skype / Google Talk automatically disconnects. And the moment I am disconnected from the VPN, and if these are still in the tray, they connect as if nothing happened. The IT in my firm is not going to support me since Skype is an external tool and they don't care anything about it. I spoke to one of my colleagues and they said probably it could be a port issue that VPN blocks.

Whats even more weird is ... VPN blocks my Firefox and makes me to add my firm's proxy address so that I can connect to other web pages. Previously, when I was on XP and if I gave the option "No Proxy", Firefox would load content from any web page (GMail, Yahoo Mail, Etc) . Now that option doesnt work, and the proxy is a must... and as a result of which my private emails get blocked (thats company policy not to open any external webmails )

I am hoping someone could come up with a work around for this kind of issue.

    Appreciate all the help.

    Regds.

    Problem fixed

    Hi,

Cisco released a new version of Anyconnect 2.4.0202 during the last week, which fixes this problem. Now you can Skype, email and browse while being on VPN.

    Thank you CISCO.
