Sharing an Access Database
Hi Folks:
I have a desktop running Win 7 Pro and acting as a file server in an office. There are 4 other Windows 7 computers in the office all with a mapped network drive from the server. We have an MS Access Database which "lives" on the server's hard drive and, therefore, is accessible to all those in the LAN.
By default, MS Access is set up to allow more than one user access (read/write) the database. However, for some reason, we cannot achieve this in our office. Once one person has the database open, the second person can double click on the database icon, there is a flicker (as if the application opens and instantly closes) and that's it. No sharing.
The strange thing is that if someone on the LAN has the database open, a user physically at the server can open up the database, thereby allowing more than one user. The key is that of the two people accessing the database, one of them must be accessing it from the server itself. This is obviously sub-optimal.
Is this is a Windows 7 issue, or something relating to MS Access?
Any ideas?
Thanks!
