    Hi,

You may find internet speeds drop if your ISP has sent an update to the router (they do that without notification). The best thing to do (which works for me) is to reboot the router.

Most routers are similar in the fact that they have a reset button on the back of the box, if you switch the router off and use a pen or similar pointy object to push the reset button (10 seconds is ample time). When you switch your router on you will notice that the lights flash as it does a self test and internet connection test. You should then be back to normal speed.
       Note
Not all routers are reset in this manor, I suggest you read the documentation regarding a router reboot

1 you need to turn off router for the recommended time - 3 minutes - thought i better mention this.

2 you may need to update the driver for your network adapter (look in device manager) - go to the manufacturers site - support - downloads. Mine is a marvell yukon gigabyte ethernet controller - and drivers can be found here just in case you have the marvell type - http://www.marvell.com/drivers/drive...o?driverId=175 - i have always had trouble getting the drivers for some reason at this site, but if you repeat the process it usually works the second time around.

3 I live in australia and use that same site for testing and usually get 6.88 x 32
here is another link but i guess it wont help, but is good for picking the best ISP

4 This might help - some info on your router -

I would look at contacting you current ISP and see if they are conducting line testing. If it's a new setup then you need to allow up to 10 days for testing to finish, during this time you will notice extreme changes in your internet speeds.

Westnet is the best ISP and has received the reward every year for being the best - good speeds, excellent service and support - as orbital says contacting your isp might help and explain the problem - if your unhappy with the treatment they dish up by all means change to westnet - but no guarantees this will solve the problem - westnet -

Read this it might help you troubleshoot:

Or, use the built-in Access Point to connect wireless devices to your network without running cables through the building. The Access Point built into the Gateway uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N’s “Multiple In, Multiple Out” (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce “dead spots” in the wireless coverage area, maintaining the wireless connection much farther than standard Wireless-G.
With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the Gateway can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds far faster than standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the “good neighbor” mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band.
