I'll look around for some step-by-step directions. In the mean time: what have you accomplished as far as drive sharing, and where are you bound up? We might be able to help just by knowing what error/etc. you're getting. :)

IMHO the key to homegroup/workgroup networking with windows 7 is to have users set up with their own passwords on each machine they need to access. Then every shared resource needs to have permissions set to the users who can access those resources.

Even if the network is not visible, it may be possible to map a local drive letter to a share on the local network. Start, Computer, Map Network Drive brings up the following dialog:
    Network Mapping-share.png
Note the checkboxes: Reconnect at logon makes the mapping persistent, and Connect using different credentials allows sharing of other user's resources, if the password is available.
If the share cannot be found, there are further network problems to be resolved.

Alright so i finally got a low end server built and i am using windows server 2003. And when i am trying to connect to it by using this: \\HOMESERVER\Network it keeps asking me for a username and password. I did it before where it didn't ask me for one, but i just can't remember how i did it.

I believe the way to get it to not ask you for a username password would be to punch the username and password in, and then the "remember this" button.

Short of having an Active Directory/Domain environment, I'm not aware of a different way to do have it not prompt you, except maybe giving everyone full control to everything. Which is a terrible idea.(though someone may pipe up with a different solution).

I need clarity. You've already done what and it does what? There were two different ideas in my previous post.
