    Shared printer not printing

    Hi

I have an Epson 1290 connected to my Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 PC, and it is shared with my Vista Home premium SP2 PC, the printer works fine when printing from my Windows 7 PC but when I try to print from my Vista PC, nothing prints and all the jobs are shown in the "Open Printer" Dialogue box.

I have tried right clicking and selecting "Restart" on each entry but still nothing happens.

The printer is the default printer for both PC's and shows up in the Control Panel/Printers box.

Any ideas on what can be happening and how to fix it?

    Cheers

    Daniel

    Hello,

It might help to download the latest printer driver for Vista from Epson's site.

    Please let us know.

You're using 64bit drivers for your Windows 7 PC but your Vista PC is 32bit? You'll need the 32bit drivers on the Vista PC.

    Hi

I should have mentioned that the printer was working fine until about a week ago, I did not know that it has stopped working until I noticed the printer icon om the task bar and when I opened it I saw a number of files in the "Open Printer" Dialogue box.

I had recently installed CA Internet Security Suite to see how it went, mainly because I was given a free 12 month copy. I guessed the problem may have been related to the firewall but could not see how to easily configure it allow the shared printer.
I uninstalled the CA and reinstalled MSE and the spooled docs all printed out.

To be fair to CA I did not try their support as I was in a big hurry.

BTW, I have used MSE on three PC's and have had no Malware issues, I run Spybot and Malwarebytes monthly to confirm this.

    Thanks for your posts.

    Cheers
