Was your router set to block outgoing connections on 'any' port? It's generally allowing the incoming traffic to pass through those ports when opening them up...

Can i get a bit more info?

What application is attempting to use these ports?

Application is...

The application I am trying to setup is a direct connection to an internet site to upload my files to a secure HDD. I know the system works but just don't seem to be able to get it to work. It uses 2078 (SSL) 2077 (Normal).
Thanks Brady for helping out BTW!

Well the first thing I would do, is actually bypass the router to ensure that your ISP isn't blocking those ports by default.

Then once you have determined it's not a router/fw issue, follow this tutorial for fowarding or triggering the ip address: How do I enable port forwarding and port triggering on the Virgin Media Super Hub??
