    NetBT.sys driver won#t load - EventID 7026

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64, all updates, SFC OK
    Acer X3900

    Hi,

How can one repair or load the netbt.sys driver?

It seems that after an automatic Windows Update the netbt.sys
driver ceased to load. From that day mapping network drives
on an Windows 2000 PC stopped to work. The Win7 PC is also
invisible on the Windows network. Internet and Ping works though.

Strange thing is that System File Check (SFC) reports everything fine.

    EventIDs 7026, 7001, 7001
    Source: Service Control Manager

As a consequence the "TCP/IP-NetBIOS" Helper Service also fails to load.

Any hints would be highly appreciated.

    Anyone having an idea?

I have an older version of netbt.sys from a backup, but so far I could not find a method to re-install it.
Nor matter what I try (Save Mode, Recovery Console, privileged console) Win7 tells me I would not have
    access rights to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\...

What would be the standard procedure to be able to override netbt.sys with an older version?

    Are you using Norton/Symantec?

No, Norton and McAffee are the first things scrubbed off the machine.
Windows Firewall and Avira Antivirus are disabled.

The problem was finally solved by restoring from an older backup, while having some data loss.
Now - before and after 55 Windows 7 updaes - everything including Window Networking (Workgroup)
    is working properly.
    Very strange.
