pppoe slow speed

I put my pppoe login and password to my belkin 54g router.
I pay for 1mpbs through ethernet but when I put my login in router to share that pppoe it's giving me 0.2mpbs. Why it's so slow?

Well, if you know that your router/modem is in good shape and new (i.e: less than three years old), I would say contact your ISP, as it may be a throttle on their end.

They won't help. They say that only if you're business client you can share wireless. I am able to share but only with 1/4 speed.

Okay. Your continued use of the word "share" confuses me... your router has your outside connection (DSL, I'm guessing) feeding into it, correct? If that's showing at .02mbps, then that's the connection speed the box itself is receiving. From there, whether you use wireless or wired doesn't make a difference.

Does that make sense?

Yes it makes. But how can I increase that size from 0.2-1.0 mpbs (speed that I am getting originally from ISP)

I would talk to your ISP. If your router is only seeing .02mbps, that's an issue between the modem and their equipment (unless your modem is old and dying).

yes as webmattr says, check your RSP (router setting page) and look for the connection speed, if its not hitting your router at 1024 then speak to them.

Remove your router and just use your DSL modem. Then check your speed. If it is correct then their is something wrong with your router.

u can do as layback bear suggests, personally i wouldn't. what's quicker and easier, u could do as suggested above, without using an unreliable http test and checking the true speed, unless of course u have a throughput issue from the ISP - no harm mr. bear
